Combining the artistry of dance with the drama of aerial acrobatics, Arachne Aerial Arts specializes in high impact performance for theaters, museums, galleries and events.

Andrea and Sharon began flying together in 2000 and continue their training at New England Center for Circus Arts with Elsie Smith and Serenity Smith Forchion, former aerialists with Cirque du Soleil. The DC-based duo has received praise from critics, clients and audiences and has been presented at artistic venues and corporate events throughout the region.

The company offers introductory workshops and private lessons to students of all abilities.

 

 

Andrea

Andrea Burkholder (left) has performed with Seize the Day!, This Body This Earth and Air Dance Bernasconi. She has taught movement to students of all ages. She is a co-owner of two Pilates studios, Pure Joe Studios in Reston, VA, and Washington, DC. Andrea received BAs in Dance and Spanish from the University of Maryland.

Sharon

 

Sharon Witting (right) has performed with Carla & Company, Air Dance Bernasconi and Virginia Ballet. She began aerial training at the San Francisco School of Circus Arts. She has fifteen years of arts administration experience, most recently with the Association of Children’s Museums. She holds a BA in Anthropology from Washington & Lee University and an MAT in museum education from George Washington University.
